- Fast-packed deckbuilder with roguelike elements
- Create your own doomsday device and rule ove the world
- Available for $4.99 on iOS
Indie developer Joshua Richmond has just announced the launch of his latest title, Doomsday: A Mad Scientist on iOS. This fast-paced deckbuilder gives you the chance to step into the chaotic world of a mad scientist whose only goal is to rule the world. Armed with a giant laser cannon mounted on a spider-legged robot, you’ll take on everything from teenage bullies to military forces to mythical creatures like the mighty Kongclops.
Doomsday is a single-player roguelike adventure, with mechanics inspired by various popular titles. You are tasked with assembling powerful components for your ultimate weapon through a mix of card synergy and artifact collection, rather than relying heavily on combat alone. In each level, you’ll have seven turns to generate enough points to defeat enemies.
Cards play a key role, with component cards letting you assemble parts of your doomsday device, while action cards enhance them in surprising ways. Each enemy has distinctive abilities that can throw you off course, so make sure you understand your deck’s strengths and your opponent’s weaknesses.
There are a total of 15 levels, giving you plenty of opportunities to piece together a doomsday device to overcome anyone in your way. Between stages, you can refine your deck by adding or removing cards and artifacts. With over 150 cards and 100 artifacts to choose from, you can customise your strategy with endless combinations. The more you play, the more powerful cards and artifacts you’ll unlock, including rare items that could help turn the tide.

Something I really appreciate is that Doomsday comes without any ads, loot boxes, or microtransactions. It’s a straightforward purchase with no extra in-app purchases, letting you enjoy the entire experience as intended from the moment you download.
