It will introduce “a colossal amount of free content” including multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone maps, according to the publisher.
“Season 01 takes Black Ops to the criminal underground”, Activision teased in an X post on Monday.
Black Ops 6’s first content drop arrived last Tuesday with the release of the Infected multiplayer mode, while popular multiplayer map Nuketown was added to the game on Friday.
When Season 1 launches, players will also be able to dive into a new Warzone Resurgence map called Area 99.
“Set against the unrelenting heat of the Nevada desert, Area 99 – or more specifically, the Echo Ridge Weapons Station – was a top-secret government site constructed in the 1950s, concealed from the public just miles away from the original Nuketown testing site,” according to Activision.
Black Ops 6 was released on October 25 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. Notably, it was also the first Call of Duty to be available on Game Pass on day one.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella commented on the game’s early performance during the company’s first quarter earnings call last week.
“[The] launch of Black Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty release ever, setting a record for day one players as well as Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day,” he said.
“And unit sales on PlayStation and Steam were also up over 60% year-over-year. This speaks to our strategy of meeting gamers where they are by enabling them to play more games across the screens they spend their time on.”
